State College Borough is the primary location of Penn State University at University Park. PSU’s home campus is one of the largest university campuses in th country, so there are many annual events in this area every year and a huge need for information regarding lodging.
Penn State Football is by far the biggest draw for the University. Every home came draws a few hundred thousand fans to the State College area. The Arts Festival is a wonderful culturally rich event for everyone from young to old.
Another nice tourist attraction in Boalsburg, which is right outside of State College is the Pennsylvania Military Museum, which features the roles of Pennsylvania military units and Pennsylvanians that served in all branches of the armed services during the 20th century. The 28th Division Shrine, located on the museum property, was created by the veterans of World War I to honor their military service in France. A 2nd memorial is dedicated to the men who sacrificed their lives in World War II. The Pennsylvania Military Museum is one of the 26 historic sites along the Pennsylvania Trail of History. The Museum is open every day but has special events on the big military holidays, Independence Day, available.
Also available this year is the new Mt. Nittany hiking trail. This fall, The public will be able to enjoy the long awaited project that allows visitors to walk the navigated trail that was installed by the MNC. There was a major concern for hikers getting lost on the mountain so the MNC implemented well mark paths at crucial intersections to ensure the safety of its visitors. The project was helped by many Penn State groups and volunteers. Along with the mountain project, the MNC will be publishing a new map or the trails that will appear on the website very soon.
